Plastic pollution is a global crisis – but one we can all do something about. The School of Microbiology at UCC invites students to participate in a plastic pollution workshop to help promote awareness of the abundance of plastic waste in society, how it contaminates our environment and the impacts it has on ecosystems. The great news is that students have the power to be ambassadors of change and it does not require a lot of effort- just a little knowledge!

CLIMATE PROOFING FOOD
Food Development Workshop

This workshop on Climate-Proofing food for the 21st century will take the audience on a journey spanning the past 100 years in plant food development from traditional breeding with inputs from the Green Revolution through to ‘traditional’ mutagenesis to genetic engineering to genome editing.  The microbiome revolution as it relates to plant food production will also feature prominently.  In addition to the theory the audience will be treated to a demonstration of technologies involved in climate-proofing food for the 21st century.
